Central Records is the information hub of the Sheriff’s Office. Walk-in traffic is greeted by Central Records staff and incoming phone calls are screened and routed to the appropriate division.
Central Records is responsible for processing the criminal complaints created by both the Sheriff’s Office and Boise Police Department. These consist of arrests, citations, complaints, and dispositions. Protection orders are also a large part of our workload. Our office also processes all protection orders that must be served in Ada County. The ACSO Central Records section processed more than 2400 public information requests in 2005.
Central Records is also responsible for packaging information relative to arrests and forwarding it to the prosecutors and judges. It also communicates information relative to criminal investigations to other agencies by the use of the state and national teletype system.
Sex offender registrations are completed in Central Records, and Records staff processes all requests for public records. This unit also includes pawn tracking, crime analysis and microfilm.
